Residents locked out of Mahagun Moderne at night, blame AOA

A few residents of Mahagun Moderne, a residential society in Sector 78, Noida, alleged that they were denied entry into the society when they were returned from Durga Puja venue, near gate number 5 of the society, late in the night of Friday. They suspected that it was done at the instructions of the Apartment Owners Association (AOA).

The residents had requested the society’s management to keep the gate open late in the night during the puja. “The management had agreed to keep the door open. There were no issues first two days. We were allowed to enter from the gate around midnight,” recounted a resident.

He alleged that the AOA interfered on the third day and asked the management to close the gate at 10 pm two days ago.

Indrani Mukherjee, a resident of the society, pointed out that this was done to them in despite having all the permission from the city administration and maintenance manager of the society.

“Last night, when we came back from the venue, not only the door was locked but there was no guard. The residents kept banging the door for a long time. When no one answered, we called the police,” she recounted, adding, “Luckily a resident was able to convince a member of the maintenance staff to unlock the gate at around midnight.”

She said the guards later told them that AoA president, Sandeep Chauhan, had ordered them to lock the gate. She alleged that when they tried to contact JLL, the management agency, there was no response from its side till Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Mridul Bhatia, secretary of the AoA, on Saturday evening circulated a message among the resident of the society that the gate 5 of the low-rise was locked in the wake of a wanted criminal was caught by the police recently hiding inside the society. According to the police, he had entered from gate no.5. This prompted the management to keep the gate locked.

In the message, Bhatia also pointed out that the AoA is very annoyed with the way Mr. Mehra GM JLL is managing the society and would ask senior management of the Builder to take concrete steps on the security issue as soon as possible.
