RWA Bhagidari makes market stretch free from vehicles in East Delhi

There is a lot of hustles and bustles in the locality during this festive season with people going on a shopping spree for the celebrations. The flipside of the otherwise positive development is that it is causing congestion both in the markets as well as roads.

To address this issue, RWA Bhagidari has come up with a good initiative to make the stretch from Lal Quarter Market and Mandir Marg free from vehicles. A pedestrian walk will be observed from October 7 to 11.

The initiative will give relief to residents from the overcrowded market.

RWA member, BS Vohra, said, “We received a lot of complaints regarding rampant encroachment at the stretch. It narrows down the market. We have made the market vehicle free. We got a lot of support in this anti-encroachment drive.”

A trial pedestrian walk will start from Monday. We will try to continue it till Diwali. All two-wheelers, four-wheelers and any other types of vehicles would not be allowed to enter the main market.

Shop owners can park their vehicles at authorised parking area which is one km away from main market.

A member of standing committee of East Delhi, Sandeep Kapoor, said, “We had a discussion with market association. We have come up with a plan to make our market encroachment free. Everyone is welcoming this step. RWA has requested the people not to come with their vehicle for hassle-free shopping.”
