Gurugram: GPL Eden Heights RWA and pet parents at loggerheads over dog poop area

Amid the ongoing controversy between the pet parents and RWA of GPL Eden Heights in Sector 70, a resident was caught on camera removing and then throwing away the board which was re-installed at the demarcated dog poop area by the builder's management.

The pet parents of the society informed that after a long fight, they were relieved when the builder reinstated the designated pet area in the society where they could take their dogs for a walk. However, their happiness was short-lived when a resident of the society removed the board which was placed on the demarcated dog poop area.

The residents informed that after a series of complaints from the pet owners, the builder, Gupta Promoters, restored the dog poop area back within the complex.

Recounting the incident, Mili Kapoor, a complainant on the matter said, “After a meeting with the builder, they restored the dog poop area back within the complex bringing much relief to the pet parents. But to my shock, on Monday night, the board placed by the builder was removed. Upon inquiring it was found that one of the members of RWA sub-committee aggressively removed the board. Fortunately, everything was caught on CCTV camera and the video footage has been provided to the police.”

In her complaint, she further said that an action from the police would deter people from doing any mischief. “Its been a month since an FIR was registered against them and no action has been taken by the police giving them more confidence to do such mischiefs. I fear for my and my family's safety,” she said.

Notably, all this started two months back when the site for dog poop was removed by the RWA members which was assigned by the builder within the complex. Additionally, the RWA also formed rules and regulations that were in violation of the guidelines issued by the Animal Welfare Board of India, the pet parents alleged.

Another pet parent, Anu, a resident of GPL Eden Heights, stated that RWA members humiliate pet parents publicly. “The RWA not only makes arbitrary rules and regulations but also threaten and intimidate the residents. The builder made a designated area where the residents can take their pets for a walk, but the RWA destroyed that too. It is very difficult for senior citizens to take their pets for a walk outside the society because of heavy traffic movement and criminal activities.

Meanwhile, RWA member Ankush Bansal denied to comment on the issue. However, the GPL management said, “We never removed the pet area. The management is trying to help all the residents in the society. The RWA should find a solution amicably so that everyone can live in a harmonious way.”
