The residents got elated after the announcement of Mela Ground-cum-Sports Complex in Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad. They were waiting for it for a long time.
It will be developed under public-private partnership (PPP) model in Sector 7. Awas Vikas Parishad has earmarked an area of around 20,000 square meter of land behind Indirapuram Police Station to develop it.
It could have been announced earlier but it did not happen because of model code of conduct coming into force in February this year.
Mela Ground will be developed at 70 per cent of the total land. A sports complex will be developed on the rest of the land for facilities related to games such as Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis and Kabaddi etc.
Moreover, kids zone, meditation zone and cafeteria will also be developed at the sports complex.
As well, the Awas Vikas Parishad will be offering the sports coaching facilities to prepare future sportsmen.
It will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore. Although it will be completed in 18 months, but few of the facilities will be started in first six months.
The Mela Ground-cum-Sports Complex will be developed by a private company. Land will be given on lease to the private company. The company will be taking fees from sportsmen in first few years.
Changing room, washroom and shower will also be there for the sportsmen.
Following sports facilities are provisioned in this upcoming sports complex.
