Noida: Six new bus routes for the city soon

Noida Metro Rail Corporation began a survey on Monday for six new routes for the city bus service. These are expected to be operational by the first week of August.

PD Upadhaya, general manager of NMRC, said Santosh Yadav, managing director of NMRC, will review the survey and give a go-ahead for the routes. The width of the roads and the U-turns will be finalised after the survey.

“The city bus service will begin construction work on a bus depot in Sector 90. Construction of a bus terminal in Sector 82 is also under way. Work will be completed in 45 days,” Upadhaya said. “The tender for the manpower agency, the bus shelter and an intelligent traffic management system is out, and we hope interested companies will apply," he added.

According to officials, the NMRC will run 50 air-conditioned buses on six routes in the first phase. In the second phase, 50 non-air-conditioned buses will be procured.

The buses will run separately from the state transport buses. Thirty buses will run in Noida and 20 in Greater Noida. Another 30 will run between Noida and Greater Noida, and 20 others will be used as feeder buses for Metro stations to provide last-mile connectivity.

After its launch, the city bus service will provide connectivity to all upscale residential areas in Noida, such as sectors 33, 39, 40, 41, 44, 50, 51 and 53. The facility will cover education hubs such as Knowledge Park I and Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.
