Mahagun Moderne: AOA refutes allegation of locking out residents late at night

Following the controversy over not allowing residents into the society few days earlier, the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of Mahagun Moderne, a residential society in Noida's Sector 78, has refuted the allegations that it was done on their instructions.

Mridul Bhatia, Secretary of the AoA, said, “The residents, who had alleged that the AoA locked them outside, clearly don’t wish to follow the rules. According to rules, gate number 5 of the society remains open from 7 am to 10 pm because of the security concern.

“They should have taken the permission of the AoA or at least should have informed us that they wanted the gate to be open post 10 pm. We, as an association, are accountable for the residents and their security in this society”, he added.

Bhatia questioned as to why Indrani Mukherjee, who had levelled allegation against the AoA, sought permission after the incident on October 6. “After receiving her request, we allowed the gate to be opened post 10 pm. She could have sent requests earlier at the time of commencement of Durga Puja.”

Bhatia alleged that Mukherjee and other residents used to enter into the society from that gate after 10 pm by managing guards and the facility manager. Mukherjee denied the allegations and said that she had sought permission verbally from the society's management. She said that after the incident, she had only written letter for seeking entry from October 6 to 8.

As per the Secretary, gate number 5 was locked because there was a serious security lapse and a criminal was found from the premises on October 5. The AOA said that the criminal entered from gate number 5.

Residents locked out of Mahagun Moderne at night, blame AOA

CitySpidey spoke to DS Mehra, General Manager JLL, the maintenance agency of Mahagun Moderne, regarding the security lapse. Mehra told CitySpidey that the alleged criminal was a guest of one of the residents and was handed over to police.

On being asked whether there was an interaction with Mukherjee, Mehra said, “She had informed the management that few residents will be using the gate post 10 pm but no time frame was decided for it, I had also asked her to seek permission from the AoA regarding the same.”

Recalling that one night he had also received a call from Mukherjee at around midnight saying that the guards were not letting the residents enter, he said, “I had given the permission and the matter was resolved. Next day, a permission for opening the gate till midnight was given by the AoA and then on there was no problem".
