Indirapuram: Two new spots fixed to address parking woes

To address long-standing parking woes in Indirapuram, the police administration has allotted two spots for public parking. The parking spaces have been designated at Windsor street behind Parsavnath Majestic Homes and at the approach road between Shipra Srishti Society and Indirapuram Habitat Centre.

“These are temporary parking arrangements made near commercial establishments so that troubles caused by haphazard parking and traffic jam could be avoided,” said SHO Indirapuram, Deepak Sharma.

Both the parking spots are on internal roads. The administration has dedicated one lane of each of the roads for parking the vehicles and another lane for movement of traffic.

Officials said that these approach roads have lesser traffic density in comparison to other roads.

These two spots have the capacity to accomodate 150 cars. There will be no charge imposed on vehicles parked on these spots. However, officials also told that the vehicle owners have to park their vehicles on their own risk. “As we are not charging any fees, the owners will have to be responsible of the security of their vehicles,” officials told.

The latest development is the result of a concerted efforts by police administration and members of Indirapuram based Federation of Apartments Owners’ Association (FedAOA). “Keeping in view the traffic mess of Indirapuram, such initiative was necessary. It will bring respite to the residents as well as mitigate the traffic issue,” commented Alok Kumar, ex president of FedAOA.

In September, Deepak Sharma, SHO Indirapuram Police Station, Traffic Inspector Paramhans Tiwari, ex-president of FedAOA Alok Kumar along with other members of the federation had surveyed the area and came up with four parking spots.

The four spots were at Windsor Street behind Parsvnath Majestic Homes, the approach road between Shipra Srishti Society and Indirapuram Habitat Centre, near D Mall and near Orange County Society.

“While two out of four options have been designated for temporary parking arrangements, the administration is yet to take a call on other two options,” Kumar told. Meanwhile, the administration is also pondering to designate two more spots for the public parking.

The arrangements are in the final stage. The administration is putting up signage and boards at the spots and they can be thrown open to public for parking their vehicles from Tuesday.
