Path lab in Supertech Capetown: Residents cry foul

Residents of Supertech Capetown, a high rise in Sector 74, Noida on Monday registered a complaint against a clinic and medical laboratory being run from the residential society.

Written by Tanmay Mishra, a resident, the complaint drew the attention of Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer with Noida Industrial Development Authority, towards the clinic and laboratory being operated from residential tower 3 in the society in violation of building byelaws laid down by the authority.

The complainant called upon the authority to ensure that a separate mechanism is opted for disposal of medical waste generated from this pathology lab. The lab does not have such mechanism in place. Hence the waste is being disposed of along with the kitchen waste which, he said is a health hazard.

Further, he complained that the radiation coming from X-ray machine is also a threat to the health of adults and children alike. He urged the authority to initiate appropriate action for closure of the clinic and pathology lab in the society.

The letter handed to CEO of Noida authority was duly signed by several residents, Bashu Chand, Anand Kumar, Abadhesh Rusia, and Pinki Gupta to name a few. They have been objecting to the operation of the medical facility from the residential society.

The complaint was also forwarded to chief medical officer of Gautam Buddha Nagar and regional officer of state pollution control board.
