Women gear up for Karva Chauth

Karva Chauth is one of most romantised festival for married couples where married women keep fast for the whole day and pray for their husband’s well being and long life. While the lovely ladies are shopping and going to salons to prepare for the day, the handsome men are making all efforts to make the day perfect for their loved ones.

The markets are decorated and offering wide discounts and packages on the occasion. Women can be seen applying beautiful designs on their hands with henna which is considered auspicious for married woman.

Talking to Cityspidey, Shivani Sharma, a resident of Sector 32 said, “This is my first Karva Chauth and I am very excited to celebrate it with my husband. All the planning from clothing to jewelleries to accessories to make the day more special and memorable ones started a month ago.”

While some of the ladies are still preferring traditional bright heavy attire for the day, newer generation are opting for pastel coloured light weighted dresses. Mamta Kishore, owner of the designer boutique said, “The choice vary from person to person but still people are inclined towards subtle colours this time. Having worn heavy sarees and lehenga at every feastival and occasion, this time they are choosing light weighted material which they easily can carry and maintain afterwards.”

Any festival is incomplete without gift so this year also jewellery remains the easiest and safest option for men. Others are opting electronic gadgets for tech savvy wives and some are gifting vouchers.

Not just ladies but their better halves are seen making efforts. Puneet Jain who accompanied his wife Nitika Jain for shopping said, “We both are keeping fast for the last four years which is our way of expressing love and commitment for each other.”
