Karwa Chauth for the urban residents is no longer just about women fasting for men. As per the new trend, men are not only seen pampering their better halves but themselves too on this occasion.

Salon owners across Delhi-NCR say that earlier the men only came for a quick trim on the day of Karwa Chauth but now there are pre-bookings for facial, manicure, pedicure apart from hairstyle grooming by men.

Talking to CitySpidey, Karamjeet, manager of a branded salon in Lajpat Nagar said, "This time we had Karwa Chauth special offer for not only women but men also which included services from head-to-toe.”

He added, "The trend of looking sharp and nice started in men last year, though there has been a 50 per cent increase this year where men started visiting the salon a week before the Karwa Chauth or pre-booked.”

The most common services taken by men are trimming, haircut and facial. Mustafa, a unisex salon owner in Noida's Sector 50 said, "Men have started demanding a certain facial now, for instance, a male customer called today asking if there was charcoal facial available. Earlier, it was only the women calling and inquiring about offers, etc.

Another salon owner in Noida's Sector 18, " We launched an offer for men this year after doing a survey with our male customers  who showed a positive response towards indulging in head-to-toe services".

Speaking to CitySpidey, Rahul Channa, a resident of South Delhi said, "My wife blogs on Instagram and need good pictures. I have already booked a package and will head to the salon today after winding up my work.”

Women too have moved from traditional salon services

Naila, a nail extension artist in Lajpat Nagar, said, "I have 30 bookings for the day. Most women want to have natural nail extension and go either for french or pattern nail designs.”

Naila's colleague Amber is an expert for eyelash extension. Talking to CitySpidey, she said, "This year we have a lot of pre-booking for eyelash extension unlike last year where there were only 2-3 bookings during the Karwa Chauth season".

For the newlyweds, the first Karwa has to be special. Sapna Manocha, a resident of Mayur Vihar told CitySpidey that she has booked herself a bridal package from an app that provides home-salon services. " We haven’t been able to go for our honeymoon yet and will be taking a two-day trip to Udaipur a day after Karwa Chauth which is why I want to look my best on the day.”

Not just the salon, restaurants too have been giving Karwa Chauth offers

Several restaurants across Delhi-NCR have been giving special discounts on the occasion of Karwa Chauth.

A high-end restaurant in Saket has even gone ahead and is making booking for candle-light dinner for couples on Thursday.

Sarottam Das, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi, said, " I have made a booking to take my wife for dinner in a five-star after which I intend to take her for a long drive. We have celebrated all the Karwa Chauth at home, this time I want to make her feel special.”
