RESIDENT SPEAK: Felling of trees should not happen for widening of roads

Sometimes it is very difficult to understand the modus operandi of the Delhi government. They often come up with something which is beyond understanding.

On one hand, it is serious to implement odd-even road rationing scheme but it has also given permission to cut 10,000 trees to accomodate more cars on the road.

Rampant tree felling has been happening in the national capital to widen the roads. It was also done for construction of Delhi metro corridors.

This is a serious thing. Felling of trees should never happen at the place like Delhi where there has been a lot of emphasis on the pollution of late. Pollution has started taking its toll on the health of the people all across the city.

As a resident, I feel betrayed by the double standard of the government. They keep on doing it without any limit.

There is no rationale behind the infrastructure development at whatever cost it may happen. I believe cutting of trees should not happen as it would affect the health of people in the city.
