First Metrolite corridor to be built between Rithala and Narela

Under the Delhi Metro's Phase IV project, a Metrolite corridor will be built between Rithala and Narela. This  will be country's first Metrolite corridor.

On this 22-km stretch, trains will run on a rail corridor fenced on both the sides.

As per sources in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block (7.9 km) and Inderlok-Indraprastha (12.5 km) corridors of Phase IV were also considered for the surface-level Metrolite service.

While most of the stretch of the corridor will run on surface, elevated sections and underpasses will be built at places such as intersections where it would be difficult to lay a dedicated corridor.

It is normally seen that such kind of rail projects share the road space but as it is difficult to implement it in Delhi. So, a dedicated fenced corridor will be built for the purpose.

As per sources, the speed of trains on this stretch will almost be same as other metro operating the city.

As far as stations are concerned, it will be located in the middle of the roads.
