Noida: Vendors caught using poly-bags outside society, fined

Noida Industrial Development Authority on Saturday imposed fine on vendors selling items in banned poly-bags beside the main entry gate of Supertech Capetown, a residential society in Sector 74.

According to officials, they were fined on being caught red-handed selling items in poly-bags during a regular inspection. This is a violation of the blanket ban in force against the use of the polythene in the state.

The authority is continuing with its drive to ensure that the rules are duly adhered to by all including residents. Through it, the authority aims at minimising the use of poly-bags and gradually make the city poly-bags free.

Earlier on October 16, the authority imposed a similar fine on six vendors found selling items in plastic carry bags in different sectors. It collected Rs 54,000 worth fine from them under the ongoing drive against the use of poly-bags.

It also seized a carriage loaded with banned poly-bags in Sector 58, which was fined to the tune of Rs 25,000 for carrying banned items, an official informed. He said the authority is making all-out efforts to ensure that everyone follows the rules or pay penalty for its violation.
