Taking onus on themselves, the citizens on Saturday inaugurated Delhi Metro’s Integrated Transport Model (ITM) which was lying unutilised for over four months at the Chhatarpur Metro station.

Despite expense of public funds for providing last-mile and hassle-free connectivity to Delhi Metro users, the ITM was not inaugurated by the concerned authority.

The ITM was lying unutilsed despite it being fully-designed, approved and aesthetically developed.

The idea behind the ITM was to create a transport hub which would provide variety of transport options like buses, three-wheelers and Gramin Sewa to the commuters.

The intention was to provide seamless travel to the destinations. But it somehow did not get inaugurated because of unknown reasons.

The ITM was developed to provide transport options between Andheria Mod (Chhatarpur Metro station) and Mahipalpur.

Now with the opening of ITM, the traffic will also ease on the main road in front of the metro station. The last-mile transport options like buses, three-wheelers and Gramin Sewa used to be parked on the two stretches of roads causing traffic congestions.

These roads are Mehrauli and Gurgaon Road and Andheria Mod to Delhi Airport Road. None of the authorities like Delhi Police, DMRC and Public Works Department (PWD) paid attention to resolve the traffic congestions outside these two important roads.

The congestions worsened after shifting of bus stands on North side to a location after left turn towards Mehrauli and on south side away from the logical pedestrian exit point to further towards Mahipalpur direction.
The general public was suffering due to internal hassles between the authorities which caused delay in inauguration of ITM.

Product in-charge of United Residents Joint Action of Delhi (URJA) Amit Aggarwal said that the ITM was not inaugurated despite several requests to the concerned authorities. “We had reminded the concerned persons several times but there was no action from them,” he added.
