Residents from high rises and residential sectors in Noida held a grand Diwali Mela ahead of the festival of lights which falls on October 27.

The mela at Sector 51 commenced with the traditional recitation of Ganesh Vandana (homage to Lord Ganesha) by school children and lighting of diya (traditional lamp) by the guest of honour for the occasion.

Invitees were welcomed at the mela with coconut and flowers.

Children presented a theme-based awareness programme on the occasion to sensitise the audience about cleanliness in their areas to improve Noida’s ranking in Clean India Survey 2020. Currently, Noida holds 150th position in the survey on sanitation.

The other societies where Diwali mela was held include Supertech Capetown, a high rise in Sector 74, and Prateek Laurel in Sector 120. During the mela, several stalls of home decors, colourful lights and diyas were set up.
