Vatika City: Residents protest against RWA for lack of transparency

Hundreds of residents of Vatika City, a residential society in Sector 49, Gurugram, staged a protest on Sunday against the current RWA President and General Secretary for not maintaining transparency in management of the society affairs.

They protested against the replacement of their facilities management agency without following the due process.

Nitin Mehta, a resident of Vatika City said, “In the last few months, the managing committee has taken decisions that are affecting the whole society. It includes replacing security agency. The RWA has also lowered the insured declared value of the society. They are also not declaring GST.”

The residents protested against the RWA President Giriraj Gupta and General Secretary Anil Malhotra alleging that they have been doing misappropriation of funds and making arbitrary decision.

They had also complained to the District Registrar in this regard. They informed that the District Registrar has imposed a penalty on the President and Secretary of the association.

It directed the management to allow the applicant as well as the other office-bearers of the association to inspect and examine the records and other related activities when needed.

Another resident Binita Mohanty said, “I am protesting because the RWA is running the society as their personal property without taking the residents into confidence. They are just doing what they wish to do and we totally object to their style of functioning.”

“We want transparency, openness and want to be consulted because we are paying for the services. We voted for the welfare of the society and not for warfare. We have no faith in them for running the RWA office efficiently,” she added.

“There are several issues including electricity, horticulture, cleanliness, etc. that the residents are facing for a very long time. The RWA is taking decision without any consultation with their own team members let alone residents. Two members of the select committee resigned citing procedural lapses and lack of transparency," said Manoj Kumar, another resident of Vatika City.

Meanwhile, Giriraj Gupta refuted the claims made by the residents calling it as a baseless allegation.

He said, “I have the consent letter from each executive member of the governing body regarding the select committee to select the new agency for facility service. We have followed all the due process while selecting the facility agency which is completely based on competency, quality service and cost effectiveness.”
