Delhi government has planned a community Diwali Mela including laser shows from October 26-29 at Connaught Place area. Entire Connaught Place area will be decorated with laser lights. To promote footfall, the government has decided to allow free entry in the event.

As per the official information, the event will showcase various cultural programmes. It will be reflecting on the cultures of different states.  

The government said that the Diwali Mela will be organised with an intention to dissuade people from bursting fire crackers. As per them, it will also be a platform where people belonging to different  communities will be assembling together to celebrate the festival.

As per the government, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal will inaugurate the event. Perfomance of folk songs and many other cultural programmes are lined up at the event. The government has made it clear that anyone can join and enjoy the event and there would be no entry fee. On all the three days, the event will start at 6 pm and conclude at 10 pm. 

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal talking to the press said, “There will be no pass or tickets required. This will be open to all. People can come and enjoy the community Diwali celebrations anytime between 6 pm and 10 pm from October 26.”

Kejriwal said that there will be laser shows at the event on all the three days.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that arrangement have been made for special parking facilities on the nearby locations such as Shivaji Stadium etc.

“Electric vehicles will be deployed to transit people from one location to the other. Arrangements have been made on this regard,” he added.
