To live up to the festive spirit, various resident welfare associations (RWA) and societies are organising Diwali melas adding vibrancy to celebration mood.

One such mela was organised at Ardee City located in Sector 52, which gave an opportunity to the residents to indulge in pre-festival shopping within the society premises.

The mela was brimming with array of stalls offering gifts, clothing, accessories and more. Besides, ferris wheels, magic shows, countless food stalls added more colours to the festivity.

A ballet was performed by Ardee kids on Ramayana. Special screening of animated film on Ramyana was also held to attract crowd.

The mela was not just about celebration but also to spread a social message among the residents. Chaitali Mandhotra, RWA member of Ardee City said, “There is a special stall by feeding India to make the residents aware about food wastage and how leftover food can be utilised.”

Similarly, at BPTP Park Serene, a high rise society in Sector 37 D, Diwali mela was a combination of music, entertainment and shopping.

Organised by Prakriti Goonj, an NGO working towards environment protection, the mela had as many as 22 stalls offering a wide range of products and several attractive games for the kids.

There were several stalls showcasing designer clothes, bags, jewellery, handmade products, paintings, various eateries, toys and other fancy items.

People from all walks of life thronged the mela and were seen happily mingling with each other and merry making.

It proved a one stop place for the shopaholics. “I am very happy and excited to be here. There are beautiful diyas, candles and jewellery,” said Pragati Singh, one of the residents.

The highlight of the celebration was a Bhangra performance which made the residents tap their feet on the electrifying beats of music. Yoga performance by the students of Arvindam Foundation also received lots of cheers and appreciation from the residents.
