Panchsheel Greens in fix over lack of space for compost machine

The management of Panchsheel Greens, a residential society in Greater Noida West, is finding it difficult to install compost machine in the society. Compost machines are mandatory in residential societies.

Earlier, the Greater Noida Authority had penalised the society for not operating compost machine at the society. Following the action, the society was asked to set up the compost machine as earlier as possible.

When the management started to find a place for setting up of the compost machine, it experienced great difficulties. They decided to set up compost machine below one of the towers in the society.

But, the management started experiencing tough resistance from the residents of the towers. Whenever the management tried to set up compost machine below any tower, its residents started protesting saying that this would create a mess below their tower.

Residents of the society differed in their views and opined that compost machine must be set up at a covered place and basement would be right place for it. While, some other residents said it can be set up at open place to avoid further consequences.

“Residents are opposing to set up compost machine under their towers because they are concerned about filthy smell coming from it. Residents have seen the poor maintenance and waste management system in the society for last three years,” said a resident of Block- B on condition of anonymity.

It happened at all the towers where the management tried to set up compost machine. Now, the management is worried and finding it difficult to earmark a place for setting up of the compost machine. This is happening when the authority has categorically said that a compost machine is mandatory.

Now, they are brainstorming to find a place for compost machine. Panchsheel Greens is a society where residents are living since more than three years. The society has been fully developed.

But, all this while, there has been several instances when there was issues with maintenance at the society.

Vikash Kumar, president of Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of Panchsheel Greens said, “The management is already facing lack of space as the entire basement area is used for parking purposes. Residents of almost all the towers are opposing to setup compost machine under it. We thought to set up a compost machine at the gate of the society. But the residents of Block C opposed it because the gate is frequently used by the residents.”
