Indirapuram: Location of upcoming toilet shifted after residents' requests

After objection from the residents of HRC Apartments, the location of upcoming toilet has been shifted by the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC).

Earlier, it was decided that the toilet will be constructed right in front of the Gate No 2 of the society. “Now, after the objection, the spot for construction of toilet has been shifted near Tikona Park,” said Abhinav Jain, municipal councillor of Vaibhav Khand.

GMC had announced construction of four public toilets in Indirapuram. One of the toilets was earmarked near tikona park just in front of HRC Apartments. The Apartments Owners Association (AOA) of the society wrote a letter to the GMC requesting relocation of the upcoming toilet.

The AOA apprehended that the presence of public toilet on both the gates of the society would harm the health of the school going children. “School buses pick and drop children everyday. The presence of public toilet just in front of the gate is not a nice idea as per their (children) health per se,” the AOA stated.

The AOA had also suggested two places where the chances of utilisation of public toilet are higher. “One place is Amrapali market. It will give convenience to the shopkeepers as well as autorickshaw drivers and rickshaw pullers who generally relieve themselves in the open,” the AOA suggested.

"Another option could be near the tubewell of Tikona Park. Autorickshaw drivers and rickshaw pullers take rest there during day time. The location is at a distance from society gates and is more beneficial for the public,” the AOA added to their suggestion.

The GMC has accepted the demand of the AOA. “We have shifted the toilet location from the society's gate to Tikona Park after the request of the residents,” Jain said.
