Festival season is with us for quite some time now. But with Diwali on the horizon, everybody seems to be on an overdrive to celebrate the festival of lights all across Dwarka. 

Dwarkites are on an overdrive of frenzied shopping while the markets in the sub-city are fully equipped to cater to the special their needs for the upcoming festival. 

On the other hand, authorities from electrical and police departments are busy making arrangements to make the festival glitter with safety and security. For a hassle-free shopping experience, the police have increased its presence in the market places. The number of its personnel has also been increased on the roads to monitor and facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and put up barricades wherever required. 

Also, morcha and posts have been erected inside the premises of residential societies and apartments with the deployment of armed police personnel. Besides, late-night patrolling has also been intensified. 

On the security measures the police have taken for the festival season, ACP Rajendra Singh said, “We have arranged three layers of security in the market areas like Sector 6, 10 and markets around Ashirvad Chowk. Guards inside the markets with machan and morcha, outside force and the CCTV system are there.” 

He said the police were keeping a close watch on all the activities going on in the market areas. Besides, SHOs of the police stations have been directed to take rounds of the markets regularly. They are visiting the markets late at night too while patrolling has also been increased.

On the other hand, to ensure illumination of the city, the BSES has been in the full-fledged drive to solve the electricity problems in the sub-city. DGM, BSES, SK Dagar said besides their routine work, they are taking prompt action on any complaint received through their helpline numbers. 

He informed that feeder boxes are being repaired, and in almost all the sectors work on maintenance has been completed.

However, he assured, “If anyone finds a fault, he/she can inform us for immediate action on the number given on the back of the electricity bill, 39999707. Also, round-the-clock special duty staff have been deputed who will always be available on the number 32546079.”

On sanitation front, the corporation has been on massive cleanliness drives to make the city neat and clean till tomorrow. Vehicles of the corporation are clearing disposing of the garbage so that the work could be completed before Diwali on October 27. 

Officials of the corporation said that they are still lifting garbage if anyone informs them about any heap of garbage lying in an area.
