Incidence of chain snatching continues unabated in the Noida’s 7X vicinity. On Thursday, a motor-cycle borne youth snatched a woman’s chain on the main gate of Sethi Max Royal in Sector 76 in broad daylight.
This is the second incident of chain snatching in a month.
The incident occurred at around 1 pm when the woman with two children was about to enter the society from the main gate of the society. In a span of just a few seconds, the biker without a helmet came close to her, swiftly ripped the chain from her neck and sped away leaving the victim in daze.
The woman, a resident of tower D, was returning home after picking up her child from school. A CCTV footage circulating in social media groups clearly shows the culprit in white shirt riding a bike snatching the chain before fleeing the spot.
An FIR was registered with the local police when the last incident of chain snatching had taken place. The FIR prompted the police to intesify patrolling in the area but they stopped it within a few weeks' time.
Citing reasons for recurrence of the incidence of chain snatching, Sunil Kumar, a resident, said, “There are no speed breakers on the road, CCTV camera is not of good quality and there is no regular police patrolling in the area. All this allows miscreants to easily commit a crime in the sector and get away with it.”
