The Gautam Budh Nagar police carried out an inspection drive in busy markets such as Sarafa Bazar, utensil shops and petrol pumps ahead of Dhanteras which marks the beginning of the Diwali festival. A large turnout is expected in markets on Dhanteras.
The district police launched foot march in both Noida and Greater Noida and inspected shops and malls. During the checking, the police checked security system of market visitors including functioning of CCTV cameras at these places.
Meanwhile, to promote the idea of an eco-friendly Diwali and also give a boost to the indigenous pottery industry, UP Police has asked heads of all police stations in the state to light diya (oil-lamp) on Diwali instead of electric lights.
A tweet on UP Police’s official Twitter handle read that UP DGP has directed all the SSPs to light earthen lamps at all police stations.
Head of the UP Police has asked the cops to buy handmade earthen lamps from local potters as it will help in adding to their income during this festive season.
