On Diwali, NGO sets up community fridge for needy at Supertech Capetown

Members of Helping Hand Welfare Family, an NGO, on Friday set up a community fridge at gate of Supertech Capetown, a high rise residential society in Sector 74, Noida, for distribution of foods and sweets among underprivileged in the area.

It was inaugurated in the presence of senior citizens and many others. They appreciated the initiative as it would now help them in checking wastage of foods and edible items.

Residents said that people used to dump the extra foods into the dustbins. With this initiative, the underprivileged people would be served.

PK Puri, who is a resident of the society and also the man behind this initiative, confirmed that a community fridge was installed at the entry gate of the society for distribution of food among needy.

He said that residents were requested to make a habit of keeping extra food in the fridge. “The needy people would be able to pick the foods from the fridge,” he added.

“Since it is a Diwali time, it would be a great contribution to society if residents could keep few sweets in the fridge,” he said.

He told that many residents have put packet of sweets in the community fridge. “These would now be distributed among needy,” he added.
