Residents of La Residentia, a society in Greater Noida, contributed among themselves to give Diwali gifts to the maintenance staff of the society after the builder denied any gifts to its staff this year citing shortage of funds.
Around ten residents contributed and distributed sweet boxes to 30 members of the maintenance staff.
Sumit Basoya, a resident, said, “These people will be working for us day-in-and-out on Choti and Badi Diwali, we wanted to bring some smile on their faces.”
He said the morale of the staff members was down as the builder did not give any Diwali bonus or gift to them and everyone who works somewhere expects to receive something on occasion like Diwali.
“Hence, I decided to spread a word on our WhatsApp group and within half an hour fund was collected to buy sweets,” he said, adding that people contributed Rs 201 to Rs 500 for the cause.
