Fresh polls for Noida KV II RWA on the anvil

Upon receiving complaints of irregularities from an ousted member of the executive committee of the Kendriya Vihar II RWA in Sector 82, Noida, the deputy registrar wrote to the district magistrate asking for fresh polls to be held in the society. He also asked the administration to appoint an election commissioner to oversee the polls.

The ousted member, Shobhnath Chaube, had complained to the deputy registrar, Meerut, that the RWA had not been following the by-laws of the society while awarding the society’s tenders for housekeeping and horticulture work. On opposing this illegal move, he was sacked from the executive committee.

Another resident of the society, OP Parmar, had also lodged a complaint with the deputy registrar, informing him that the term of the outgoing RWA had expired in November 2015, but the members continued to run the RWA illegally.

The deputy registrar had written to the secretary of the Kendriya Vihar II RWA, Dr GL Jambhulkar, asking him to furnish an explanation within 15 days of receiving the letter. The RWA responded to say that the last elections to the RWA were conducted in November 2014 for one year, which expired in November 2015.

The deputy registrar said that though the RWA term was over in 2015, the power to hold fresh elections lies with the deputy registrar. Hence, polls conducted under the RWA would not be considered legal.
