A municipal report, released on Monday, revealed that more than 830 people have been diagnosed with dengue this year in Delhi against 189 cases reported last week alone. The number of malaria cases recorded till October 26 has also gone up to 574.

Delhi had recorded 644 cases of dengue till October 19. With 189 more cases reported last week, the figure stands at 833. As for malaria, 206 cases were reported in October while September saw 214 cases. 

According to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), which tabulates data on vector-borne diseases in the city, out of a total of 833 dengue cases this year, 551 were recorded in October, 190 in September, 52 in August, 18 in July, 11 in June and the rest between January and May. 

Of the total malaria cases, 56 were reported in August, 54 on July, 35 in June, eight in May and one in April.

State Health Minister Satyendra Jain said there were fewer cases of dengue in the National Capital this year as compared to the last five years. He urged Delhiites to keep up their efforts against these disease till next month.

The season for vector-borne diseases ends in November.
