Residents of Sector 28, Noida, have had a tough time dealing with a damaged sewer line for the past 15 days. Dirty water and filth spilt on to the main road in the sector.

Residents of house numbers 460 to 468 were the most affected, as the point of damage was right in front of their houses. Anil Sharma, resident of Sector 28, said, “The sewer water often enters the ground-floor flats. This will probably increase in the monsoon.”

The sewer line was damaged by a JCB when Noida Authority was laying an underground electric cable. FONRWA (Federation of Noida RWAs) and AVRWA, the joint RWA of the sectors 28, 29 and 37, had written a letter to Noida Authority, but no action was taken.

However, after FONRWA office bearers met the chief engineer of the Authority, it sprang into action.

OP Mehta, AVRWA chairman, told City Spidey, “Noida Authority wasn't taking any action, so we took the matter to FONRWA, which, in turn, wrote to HS Yadav, the chief engineer of Noida Authority, on June 25. FONRWA office bearers met Yadav about the issue on June 29, who called up SK Srivastav, project engineer of Noida Authority, and instructed him to get the sewer pipe fixed.”

When City Spidey spoke to Srivastav, he said the problem would be solved by Friday.
