Shipra Sun City: 3 robberies in the past 2 weeks

Households at Shipra Sun City, the residential township along NH 24 in Indirapuram, are facing a tough time with frequent cases of burglaries in the society. At least three cases of armed robbery, burglary and theft have been reported from the residential township in the last fifteen days. In all the cases, the miscreants managed to flee the scene with valuables worth lakhs.

Surprisingly, the robbers always seem to have accurate information about the whereabouts of the flat owners at all times. The latest burglary took place in a flat on Cassia Road on Friday.

In all cases, the miscreants preferred to strike in broad daylight. Unlike common cases of burglary, where houses are robbed when the home owners were away on long vacations, most of the owners in this case were only out for a short duration. The security personnel posted in the area had managed to spot the miscreants once, they failed to nab them.

City Spidey took up the matter with SR Enterprises, the firm which provides security solutions for the society.

Speaking to City Spidey, Vivek Babbar, the firm's manager pointed out that the society's strength of 17 security personnel a shift were not enough to take care of a massive society like Shipra Sun City Phase 2

"There are several other factors that have contributed to the security lapse," said Babbar. "Unregistered helps that frequent the society can easily keep track of resident movements. There are technicians who come to the UPPCL powerhouse located inside the society premises. That too, cannot be stopped."

Commuters from Vaibhav Khand took the route within Shipra Sun City to access the Mohan Nagar Link Road which cannot be stopped due to the absence of a gate between the two phases of the society.

The society pays us Rs 3 lakh a month for our security services, which was adequate only for the 34 guards provided. "We need more personnel to ensure the security of such a huge area," added Babbar.

City Spidey also spoke to Gorakhnath Yadav, SHO Indirapuram, about the frequent lapse in the society's security. He said that the initial investigation pointed towards one particular gang that has been involved in similar incidents in Vasundhara and Vaishali. "We have some leads for now but are yet to make a breakthrough," added Yadav.

Speaking to City Spidey, Gopal Pandey, president of Shipra Sun City Phase 2 AOA said that the frequent thefts were a serious concern for the safety and security of the residents.

"We want the gate between Phases 1 and 2 to be sealed permanently and then initiate new measures to beef up the security in Phase 2. Nothing would work if the gate is left open," added Pandey.
