About 70 residents of Divine Meadows, a residential society in Sector 108 of Noida, held a protest and a candle march in front of the residence of Rajeev Sharma, the director of Divine Meadows, in Sector 19 on Saturday.

According to residents, they have been living in the society for over a year and have made full payments, but their flats have not been registered till date. They are worried that they could be evicted from their flats because according to Noida Authority guidelines, they are illegal occupants.

Residents said that they had booked their flats in 2010 and the builder had promised to deliver the flats by December, 2014. However, they got possession of their flats in 2015. The project has 450 flats of which around 300 flats are occupied.

Moreover, they are also concerned about the quality of apparatus installed in the society. Surender Kushwaha, a resident, said, “Lifts in many towers do not work properly and parking space has not been allotted to flat owners. Residents also have to put up with power shortages, and there is no club house and a proper fire fighting system in the society.”

Aradhya Gupta, a three-and-a-half-year-old child, complained about the lifts too. She said she was once stuck in a lift for over three hours while she was going to her flat located on the seventh floor.

Sanjay Singh, one of the residents, also said that lifts do not work most of the time. "The builder charges Rs 2 per sqft quarterly as maintenance charge, but provides third grade services," added Singh.

Security is another issue residents complained about. Singh said, “The builder has provided only 4 guards in the name of security. There are no CCTV cameras or intercom facility in the society.”

Safety was also one of their concerns. Sunil Tripathi, a resident, said that all the electrical wires and electrical panel boxes are open, and are a danger to residents, especially children. “Whenever I tried to communicate with the builder's representatives, they did not respond,” added Tripathi.

City Spidey tried to contact Sharma, but he was not available for comment. Other representatives of the builder refused to comment.
