Dwarka's Happy Home promotes waste management

The Eco Club of Happy Home society in Dwarka Sector 7, in association with Dwarka Forum, organised an event at the society’s community hall recently. Members of the club sensitised residents to waste management and composting.

Madhuri Varshneya, president of Dwarka Forum, drew people's attention to how household waste pollutes the environment. She was joined by Swarna Lata, an expert on solid waste management, for a presentation elucidating the benefits of managing waste.

“Initially residents were reluctant to get their hands dirty and segregate their own waste,” said Shruti Trehan, mentor of the Eco Club. “We are, however, determined to make them understand the benefits of this practice and inspire them enough to ensure they inculcate it. Our next initiative will be organic kitchen gardening in urban households.”

Dwarka Forum has joined hands with IIT students and officials of South Delhi Municipal Corporation to promote solid waste management across RWAs and other social organisations.
