Noida Authority to take steps for easy rides

Signal free streets, underpasses and elevated roads to ease traffic congestion for Noida residents.

Noida Authority to take steps for easy rides

Noida residents are in for a hassle-free ride. A master plan to reduce traffic congestions has been drawn up by Noida Authority. Accordingly, a 35 km stretch would be made signal free in the next two years. Elevated roads and underpasses would also be constructed to manage free flow of traffic. This would also reduce travel time for commuters across sectors such as 46, 47, 49, 52, 61, 71, 82, 104 and 107.

Besides, an elevated road is also being made from Sector 37 to Bhangel Salarpur Road. The 5 km stretch would provide relief for commuters in sectors 41, 42, 46, 47, 49 and 82.

An underpass (estimated cost: Rs 60 crore) is also being planned for people moving from Sector 105 to NH 24. Similarly, for people moving to and from Mamura and Sector 71, another underpass (estimated cost: Rs 80 crore) is being planned.

The underpass would be completed in two years. The elevated road would take three years to be functional.

Residents of Rajat Vihar in Sector 62 and Metro Apartment in Sector 71 have welcomed this move. "At present, commuters get stuck in traffic jams for hours while travelling from NH 24 to Sector 62. This move would be a great relief," said BS Khati, President of Rajat Vihar RWA.

"There are frequent accidents on the sector 71 roundabout. An underpass would not only reduce the number of accidents, but will also relieve people from long traffic hold ups," added Subhash Chauhan, President of Metro Apartments RWA.
