FedAOA, Ghaziabad, demands local registrar’s office

The members of the Federation of Apartment Owners’ Association or FedAOA, Ghaziabad, have raised the demand for an office of the registrar of societies, firms and chit funds in either Ghaziabad or Noida. The residents have to go through a great deal of trouble since the nearest registrar’s office is located in Meerut, 70 km away from Noida and Ghaziabad.

Speaking to City Spidey, Alok Kumar, president of FedAOA, said that besides the distance the absence of a local registrar’s office in Noida and Ghaziabad has led to other problems as well. The involvement of middlemen is one such issue. They take advantage of residents who are unable to make several trips to the deputy registrar’s office in Meerut. He adds, registering residents’ associations and updating their information at the registrar’s office has become a huge ordeal.

The Federation had also sent a letter addressed to the principal secretary in this regard. It says, according to 2011 census, the urban population of both Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar was way higher than that of Meerut district, and the concentration of group-housing societies is also higher in this region. It further adds, the population of this region was set to rise exponentially in the coming years.

DK Maurya, general secretary of FedAOA, told City Spidey that having a local registrar’s office will also improve communication between the residents and officials. On many occasions, Meerut officials failed to understand the real problem of societies and passed orders without a proper investigation, he adds.
