Stepping out of their homes after dusk has become a cause for concern for residents of the Express Park View society on Taj Express Highway, Chi V, Greater Noida. Almost 80 per cent of streetlights outside the society do not work.
Moreover, recent cases of chain snatching in the area have struck terror in the hearts of residents. Rajesh Gupta, a resident, said, “Since the streetlights are not working, people are afraid to go out at night. After we complained, the streetlights were repaired, but they worked only for a few days, leaving the area enveloped in darkness again soon.”
Indrajeet Bhati, president of the RWA, told City Spidey that residents have been facing this problem for a long time, but their complaints have not yielded any results.
When City Spidey contacted RRP Singh, project manager of Greater Noida Authority, he said, “Work on fixing streetlights is under way, and it will be completed in the next two or three days.”
