Sector 120, Noida: Infighting continues at Prateek Laurel

A group of residents of Prateek Laurel, a residential society in Sector 120, Noida, have written to Prashant Tiwari, the chariman of Prateek Group, to bring certain issues affecting the society’s welfare to his attention. They have also sought an appointment with him to discuss the issue in detail.

The group included UK Jain, Ved Prakash, TB Shah, Niraj Kumar, Praesh Naini, DK Srivastava, Jai Prakash, Tarun Agarwal, Prabhat Vats and Dhirender Singh. Residents have also forwarded a copy of the letter to Rama Raman, the chief executive officer of Noida Authority.

Discord among resident factions has affected the society adversely. And residents claim that development and maintenance work in the society has been stalled.

UK Jain said that they have written to draw the builder’s attention to poor drainage and heavy seepage in the parking lot at the basement of the society. The situation is alarming there as the level of water is knee-deep. He added that they raised the issue with the builder’s officials but their concerns fell on deaf ears.

Ved Prakash, another resident, said that water being supplied is dirty. The overhead water tanks have become a serious health hazard as many of them have not been cleaned for a long time.

Parvesh Naini, a resident, said, “There are also issues with visitor parking, security and common area maintenance. Broken doors, shattered glass panes, plaster falling off from the walls, defective lifts etc have made living in the society very difficult.”

Another resident, Niraj Kumar, added that the central park of the society is in abysmal state and needs immediate attention. “Residents feel cheated as they have paid their hard-earned money for this poorly-maintained society.”

Speaking of the discord among residents, UK Jain said, “Residents of the apartments could not unite as they had demanded the dissolved AOA to conduct fresh elections for all ten members. But the AOA refused and conducted elections for only three members, which was illegal.” He added that residents challenged this “illegal” election and got the AOA dissolved by the deputy registrar of society and firms, Meerut.

He further claimed that residents also tried to form a committee to take the handover of the society from the developer. But their efforts were futile as there was no consensus due to opposition from the AOA and the builder, who had allegedly announced that the society would be handed over to the AOA only.

On the other hand, Sandeep Singh, interim president of the AOA, claimed that he has been trying to complete the memorandum of transfer with the builder legally. He added that his opponents are not ready to cooperate as they have vested interests in running a temple trust in the society.

AK Jain, secretary of the AOA, alleged that residents opposing the AOA are satisfied with the partial handover of the temple in the society. “This is the reason that they do not join us in our fight to solve the society’s problems. We can unite only when we do not have vested interests.”
