Why don't you tie a rudraksha rakhi this year?

It’s Raksha Bandhan tomorrow (August 18), and markets have been buzzing with shoppers looking for that perfect rakhi for their brothers.

Ranjana Singh, a shopper in Atta Market, Sector 18, Noida, tells City Spidey that there are so many choices that she is confused. “I don’t know whether I should buy the Chota Bheem or the Doraemon rakhi - they are both my brother’s favourites,” she says.

Rakesh Kumar, a shopkeeper at the market, says that this year, rudraksha and beaded rakhis are also popular.

As for the right mahurat, Yogendra Sharma, a priest in the city, says that while there is no fixed time for tying rakhis, the period between 6.30 am and 7.30 pm is considered the most auspicious.
