RG Residency, Noida: Garbage for garbage

The builder decided to remove domestic waste piling up for days in the basement of the society after irked residents dropped off a garbage-filled bag at his office in protest.

The angry residents of RG Residency, an upscale society in Sector 120, Noida, staged a symbolic protest against the unhygienic condition in their basement, where domestic waste is left to rot for days on end. They carried along a plastic bag filled with garbage to the builder’s sales office to press the point.

Karan Bahl, a resident of the apartment, told City Spidey that only after the residents marched to the office did the builder rise from his slumber. After an hour-long discussion and heated exchanges, the builder assured them that he would deploy sanitation staff to clear the garbage from the basement.

Residents claimed that the waste had been piling up in the basement for the past one week and that a foul smell had begun to emanate from there. Alok Trivedi, another resident, said that the issue came to light after a few residents went to the basement to park their vehicles.

Himesh Agarwal, project director of RG Residency, was not available for comment. An officer-on-duty said that a private agency had been hired to look after the cleanliness of the society.
