United India Apartments, a residential society in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension, chose members of its new managing committee on Sunday.

A group of residents, comprising of previous managing committee members, assembled in the community hall of the society and unanimously selected the new members. The selection was not based on vote.

Some elderly residents convinced everyone to give their consent for the post of president to Purusottam Das Bhatt instead of going for a vote.

SK Shrivastava and Ajay Jain were elected for the post of vice-president and treasurer respectively.

The eight-member committee gas two women members in accordance with Delhi Cooperative Society Act. They are Sunita Rani Jain and Uma Kannan.

Uma Kannan would also hold the post of joint secretary while Bhuvan B Singh would be the secretary of new managing committee. The other members are Dushma Das and Vijay Billa.

VS Devnarahan, former president of United India Apartments, congratulated Bhatt and said, "United India Apartments has maintained its dignity and today's unanimous decision by the residents have proved it again. We have high hopes from this new managing committee."

Bhatt expressed his gratitude to the residents and said, “I assure the residents that I would do the development work of the society with their consent. There are many challenges before us and they would be solved amicably."
