As Janmashtami begins with today’s sunset, residents and devotees of Lord Krishna in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension are gearing up to celebrate the festival with fervour.

Residents from various societies such as Samachar, United India, Kirti and Manas are set to celebrate the occasion with zeal.

Garima Mathur, a resident of Kirti Apartments, said, “Members of my family are devotees of Lord Krishna. On this day, all of us, except children, fast and chant mantras of Lord Krishna.”

Meenu Kaushik, a resident of Nirman Apartments, told City Spidey that all devotees of Lord Krishna in her society will assemble at the community hall, where they will celebrate the festival with kirtans and bhanjans. “Celebrations will go till late in the night. We will end with a puja and distribute sweets among those gathered there.”

SK Bahuguna, president of Glaxo Apartments said, “Like every year, we have invited residents to the community centre. A group of children have started decorating the centre and are setting up pictures of Lord Krishna.”
