One of the most popular neighbourhood parks of Dwarka in Sector 22, behind Sadbhavna Apartments, will have its own electricity by November 30. The park has been without lighting since its inception years ago.
The management of Sadbhavna Apartments and Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi Sanstha took up the matter with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and now the Authority has finally agreed to provide electricity to the park by November this year.
In a letter issued by the office of the chief engineer (electrical), DDA, to SS Mann, a social worker and a resident of Sadbhavna Apartments, it has been informed that tendering for the electrification will be taken up immediately, and the park would be illuminated properly till November 30, 2016.
SS Mann, the vice-president of Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi, said, “This is a good move on the part of the DDA. I do hope that the work would be completed within the given time frame.”
According to Mann, Sadbhavna Apartments has been taking a leading role in turning the park greener. They have been carrying out tree-planting drives there. “We planted 10 bottlebrush plants today. Prior to this, we had planted Aanwla, Tecoma, Hamelia Patens and other varieties in the park. Our society is doing its utmost to develop the park.”
President of Sadbhavna Apartments, Jyoti Prasad, said, “We want this park clean and green, and we are working towards that. This park is of great importance to the societies in the area and it should be beautifully maintained.”
