A water booster station planned for Ahinsa Khand

Residents of Ahinsa Khand in Indirapuram have been complaining of low-pressure water supply — and sometimes, none at all — despite having taken proper water connections from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).

Societies in Ahinsa Khand 2 allege that even though the water connections are in place, the pressure in the lines is too low to fulfil their requirements. Hence they have to largely rely on groundwater from borewells to meet their daily needs.

Speaking to City Spidey, DK Maurya, FedAOA president and a resident of Niho Scottish Gardens in Ahinsa Khand 2, said that almost all residential compounds in and around Ahinsa Khand received no or very little water supply. "We have also approached the GDA, but they say they don't have proper facilities to boost supply," he added.

The issue was raised at a meeting between the residents and the GDA a few weeks back. GDA officials had assured residents that the possibility of setting up a booster pump station in Ahinsa Khand 2 was being considered.

City Spidey spoke to Chakresh Jain, superintendent engineer of GDA, to get an official response. He said the GDA had already identified land near Shanti Gopal Hospital in Ahinsa Khand 2 to set up a booster station. In the first phase, a reservoir will be constructed, followed by the setting up of the booster station.

He added that the capacity of the reservoir would be finalised in a few days, but confirmed it would be a large one. “Including the tendering period, the work will most likely be completed in eight to nine months," he assured.
