Supertech Capetown’s security in deep slumber?

With three car theft attempts at Supertech Capetown, in Sector 74, Noida, residents are complaining of poor security arrangements in the society. The discontent is further being fuelled by guards who are often found sleeping while on duty.

Residents say that they pay a high maintenance charge of Rs 2.5 per sq ft, but the quality of service is not up to the mark.

Rahul Shah, a resident, said, “A few days ago, when I was about to leave for office around 8 am, I found that someone had tried to break into my car. The thief did not succeed, as he could not break open the car's central locking system. But the lock was damaged and I had to take an autorickshaw to work. The security guard on duty was also not there.”

Shah added that according to the maintenance staff, there are 100 security guards in the society, but after a random check, residents found that there were only 70 guards on duty. "

He said that the above-mentioned incident was the third such attempt in the society in a month's time. "Residents returning home late at night have found 50 per cent of the guards sleeping," Shah added.

Aman Jain, another resident, said that there were no CCTV cameras, neither proper lighting and intercom facilities in the society's basement car park.

When City Spidey took up the matter with Raj Kumar, head of the maintenance staff, he said, “The guards are on patrol duty at night. The entire society is under CCTV surveillance. The maintenance staff is planning to instal more cameras in the society. We will also review the security arrangement with feedback from residents.”
