In an effort to popularise travel by Airport Express Metro, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce 10-trip travel card facility for commuters from October 1, 2016.

According to DMRC, the facility is aimed at those commuters who are interested in limited travel trips. As the name suggests, passengers can avail a maximum of 10 trips using this card on the Airport Express Line. The card would be valid for 15 days. The facility would be on trial for three months.

The DMRC has also fixed the rate for the 10-T card. Starting from New Delhi station, it would be Rs 540 (for ten trips) to Sector 21, Dwarka; Rs 150 to Shivaji Stadium; Rs 260 to Dhaula Kuan; Rs 400 to Aerocity; and Rs 460 to the airport.

Madhuri Varshney, president of Dwarka Forum, said, “We are privileged to be in the route of Airport Express Line. With this new facility, a commuter like me who uses Airport Express Line twice or thrice a week would benefit a lot. I congratulate Delhi Metro for this initiative.”

KS Bhati, president of Federation of RWAs (FORWAS) of Sector 9, Dwarka, and the president of Ganpati Apartments, said, “This is a very good step. With this new T-10 card facility, passengers would get more convenient and cheaper rides.”

“This is a good initiative but DMRC should provide equal discount and same facility for all routes," said Rejimon CK, an RTI activist and a resident of Nav Sansad Vihar, Sector 22, Dwarka.
