Sector 10 has prepared to accommodate 10,000 people and readied a 135-ft-tall Ravana effigy, while Sector 11 has planned to continue celebrations right till Diwali.

Ramlila in Dwarka’s sectors 10 and 11 is set to be an extravaganza. In Sector 10, Ramlila will be staged from October 1-12 from 7 pm at the DDA grounds near RTO office. And in Sector 11, it will be staged from October 2-11 from 7 pm at the Ramlila ground adjacent to the Sports Complex.

Sector 10

According to Dwarka Shri Ramlila Society, which is organising performances in the sector, there is a seating capacity of more than 10,000, along with parking space, adequate security, food stalls and special areas for children.

Rajesh Gehlot, chief patron of the society, told City Spidey, “At a height of 92 ft, length of 140 ft and a width of 60 ft, the stage is the largest in Delhi. We also have the largest effigy of Ravana, which is 135 ft tall. We are burning four effigies this time. One of them represents terrorism. We have animation, light and 3-D effects on stage as well. We will honour eminent social activists every day at the performances.”

“We’ve tried to make the experience enjoyable for visitors. Special arrangements for parking, feeder buses and water bottles have been arranged. There are 50 civil defence volunteers, and 200 other volunteers, lady guards and metal detectors to ensure security in the area,” he added.

Sector 11

Ramlila here is being organised by the Association of Social and Cultural Events. Celebrations, it says, will happen for a month, concluding on October 30 with Diwali.

Mukesh Sinha, president of the association, said, “Apart from Ramlila, there will be other cultural events too. We are starting celebrations today with Dandia Night by artists from the Punjabi Academy and Gujarat Bhavan.”

“For security, we have 22 CCTV cameras, 40 guards and 30 volunteers. Parking space, drinking water and other amenities for public convenience are also there. We ahve also organised fun-filled events for children,” he added.
