ABW Aditya Niketan: Manesar allottees protest against the builder

Feeling let down by the government, around 500 allottees took to the streets against the builder, which has not laid a single brick on the site of a project launched in 2009 in Sector M-1.

ABW Aditya Niketan: Manesar allottees protest against the builder Anil Manchanda

A protest march was held by the ABW Manesar Allottee Welfare Society in Gurgaon on October 2nd to remonstrate against the Haryana government's discriminatory attitude against the 2,000 allottees of the ABW Aditya Niketan project at Manesar. Around 500 allottees took part in the march.

The allottees allege that work has still not started on the project, which was launched in 2009. They have been angered by the government's favourable response towards  the farmers (or landowners)  and  the developer, ABW Infrastructure Ltd.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar through PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh at his residence.

“The ABW Manesar allottees claim right to 104 acres meant for their township, ABW Aditya Niketan, at Sector M-1. The allottees, who have purchased plots, floors ,villas and shops in the township in 2009, have already paid Rs 800 crore to the builder. They have also paid internal development charges (IDC) and external development charges (EDC) charges to the tune of Rs 45 crore to the government through the builder upon the assurance that the government has given all necessary approvals and that the land has been legally acquired .The sale deed had been executed after paying the registration charges, and the mutation is recorded in the land records,” explained Prashant Yadav, a protestor.

“The 2,000 families have been going through a very difficult time for these past seven years, and financially, the hardships are just mounting. The builder has not laid a single brick on the site since 2009, even though it had enough time to complete the project,” complained Yadav.

The allottees claim that since they have paid way more than the value of the land by way of litigations and other expenses -- and as they have also paid the external and internal charges -- they must be handed over the 104 acres under the supervision of the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP). Otherwise, they must be given alternate units in other projects.
