Members of Maulik Bharat Sangathan burn the effigy of 'Buildersura'
On the evening of October 8, members of Maulik Bharat Sangathan, a Noida-based organisation fighting against various social ills, burnt the effigy of 'Buildersura' at the Botanical Garden Metro Station of Noida in a symbolic protest against the tyranny of builders. Around 200 people were present at this one-of-its-kind event.
Captain Vijay Gupta, president of Maulik Bharat Sangathan, told City Spidey, "Today, the builder is Ravan's new avatar. So, we want to free the buyers from the clutches of the builders. This effigy stand for all the builders around Noida and Greater Noida."
Gupta adds the from charging extra in the name of FAR (Floor Area Ratio) to not providing even the basic facilities, these builders have been, for long, taking the buyers for a ride.
Rajeev Sharma, buyer at Pan Oasis, a residential society in Sector 70, said, "I had booked my flat in 2012 and paid 70 per cent of the total amount, but I still live in a rented house."
Angry and frustrated at the government's tepid response to the homeowners' crisis, he added, "If the authorities fail to take notice even after this, we will burn the effigies of Noida Authority and other agencies too."
