Rooftop solar power project: Where is the list of authorised vendors?
It has been four months that the Delhi Cabinet has approved the rooftop solar power project, but the state government is yet to prepare a list of vendors selling and installing related equipment.

The project, which enabled government and private buildings to generate their own power, had piqued the interest of many societies. In Mayur Vihar alone, there are more than 50 such interested societies. The project also offered a 30 per cent subsidy to those buying and installing equipment from a list of authorised vendors.

However, in the absence of that very list, the project stands stalled and the interested societies have no way to take things forward.

When City Spidey contacted RK Shrivastava, executive officer with the power department of the Delhi government, he said, "We are in the process of inviting private companies. We will submit the list to the government by November so a final decision can be taken."

“Power department has completed its work and is seeking approval from the LG office. The government will take further step only after getting a formal nod from the LG office,” said Nagender Sharma, a Delhi government spokesperson.

However, not a single society has approached Delhi government so far for the list. "It is because of lack of awareness about the project," admitted Sharma.
