Dwarka Sec 6: Residents irked about horticulture waste dumped around societies

Residents of Dwarka's Sector 6 are irked at the horticulture waste dumped around their societies. The footpaths and service lanes in the entire stretch from Skylark Apartments to True Friends Apartments is strewn with silt, leaves and branches.

"The problem is the callous attitude of the civic agencies," said Shameera Ashroff, a social activist who lives in Skylarks Apartments. "Both the municipal corporation and the DDA are passing the buck. The area was cleaned a month ago, after which there has been no attempt to do so."

The worst-affected societies are Skylark, Vidya Sagar, Princess Park, Indian Bank Staff CGHS, Kalka, Bahawalpur, Shivalik and True Friends.

"The storm drains in the area were cleaned a month ago and that is where the silt has come from," said Sudha Aiyer, joint secretary of Dwarka forum and a resident of Shivalik Apartments. "It is surprising the silt was not claned even after a month. They should have cleaned the area after completing their work."

When asked about the issue, DDA officials said the silt would be cleaned soon.
