Residents of Ardee city, Gurgaon, staged a protest against Ardee Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for allegedly issuing inflated power bills. More than 200 residents took to the streets on October 23 and marched from Ardee joggers' park to the builder's site office.

"This is not the first time that the builder has charged us more than the bill amount," said Anurag Gupta, a resident. "Earlier, we got together and complained to the department after which the builder was issued a notice. This time they haved hiked the bills by 4 per cent, claiming the extra amount will be part of electricity-infrastructure maintenance."

The residents had earlier filed a complaint with the CM window against the builder, who had taken a power load of 5 MVA against the required load of 15 MVA.

After the complaint, DHBVN had served a notice to the buider for violating norms set up by Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission. According to residents, the builder had increased the society maintenance charge but has failed to provide the promised amenities to its residents.

“The builder had increased the maintenance charge from Rs 1,350 to Rs 1,600 in 2013," said Shefali Kaul, another resident. "We were promised world-class service but even something basic as proper cleaning of the roads within the society is not done.”

When contacted, Anil Hasija, vice-president, Ardee Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, said the maintenance hike was to adjust the technical and commercial losses they were suffering in the common are power consumption.”
