DF and SDMC joint cleaning campaign completes one successful week

It has been one week since Dwarka Forum started helping SDMC's sanitation staff for better cleaning in Dwarka. Members of both DF and SDMC deemed the initiative a success.

"It was a commendable joint effort by both parties," said SS Goel, a resident of IIT Engineers Apartments in Sector 10. "This has made residents aware of keeping the city clean and should be continued."

Sectors 4, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 22 were cleaned as part of the initiative. During his visit to one of the cleaning spots, Sanjeev Kumar, SDMC deputy commissioner, Najafgarh Zone, lauded the group's efforts and encouraged them to go on. Treasurer of DF and a member of Ashirvad Apartments management committee, P Menon said, “From next week, a new schedule has been prepared. We will decide with the SDMC officials which areas to target."

This practice has helped SDMC and DF members form bonds. They know each other by name now and that has made their jobs easier and reflected in the quality of work. The sanitary staff is pleased that people are guiding them. They work with a plan now and their roles are clear.

What about the challenges? Are there any?

"We have to buy brooms from our own pockets," said a member of the sanitation staff. "We request the authorities to provide us basic requirements such as masks, gloves and brooms."
